A highly successful general meeting was conducted by MAAEC, Mutual Assistance
Association for Ethiopian Community in Dallas Fort Worth, on Sunday, May 18th 2008 at 4:00 pm at the
Quality Inn Hotel. The agenda of this meeting was the consideration of the draft regulation for DFW
Ethiopians Community Funeral Assistance (ECFA/ Edir). More than 150 people attended the public meeting
to discuss the Edir project.
At the public meeting, a power point presentation and an explanation of
the draft regulation were undertaken by some MAAEC board members and others who had worked actively on
the ECFA/Edir project.
Several people who attended the meeting indicated that they had read the draft
regulation and expressed varying views. After more than three hours of an intense discussion on the topic,
the draft regulation for DFW Ethiopians Community Funeral Assistance (Edir) was ratified by a vast majority
of those who attended the general meeting.
The general meeting thereafter elected an Election Committee
comprising five members whose task was stated to be to submit at least two suitable candidates for each of
the various posts required to manage ECFA/Edir as per the approved regulation.
